While for some, Fall is a reason to wear bright colors for others we wear them all year round. I belong to the latter category. Even though I love wearing colors its my first time styling a yellow gown.
Firstly if you are someone who has just started exploring bright colors then the simple rule is Start Small - maybe with Accessories. It could be a bright scarf, jewelry, belt or a bag. Once you know which color you are most comfortable with, you can step up the game. You could try a short bright dress and then finally move to a long cocktail gown like I did here.
Tips to Remember while sporting bright colors for cocktail attire:
1. Choose either one colored gown (easy pick) or small to medium prints which is uniform from top to bottom. Here I am wearing a bright yellow long gown. It looks great on even brown to dark skin tones.
2. Carefully choose the accessories preferably with contrasting colors. When in doubt stick to Gold or Silver tones. Try keeping it minimum and delicate. Avoid wearing chunky jewelry if you are aiming for a elegant look.
I am wearing silver accessories from VintageDesi.com. Since its a tube gown I am wearing long earrings, statement finger ring and a thin strap metal watch.
3. Preferably don't mix two bright colors unless you want a funky look.
4. Choose neutral shades in footwear.
I am wearing beige color wedges as I had to walk a lot in Seattle downtown for the shoot. Stilettos or pointed heels would be preferred. Since my gown is plain ideally you could add some bling in the footwear and choice of handbag.
5. For bags, keep it small and as neutral shades as possible. Stylish Clutches or envelope purse would be perfect.
6. To add more oomph a hair accessory would be a great choice. Anything as elegant as a metal hair accessory or a designer hat.
