Question ??

I was 10 years old, when I first asked  "What happens after we die?"

Ever since I am bothered by this question.

I don't believe in After-Life, neither does the Heaven & Hell concept interest me.

Today I sit here and convey my thoughts by typing these words, but what  if this is my last day.

What happens once my switch is turned off?

What happens once I close my eyes forever?

I am told that my soul will leave this body and.... and  what next?

Of course, my body is buried or burnt, that does not worry me. What does is what happens to my mind, my heart and my soul.

Will I just disappear ?

I am not allowed to carry anything with me? not even a souvenir ?

My plans for tomorrow become obsolete, Oops ! there is no tomorrow.

Will Death be peaceful than Life itself ?

People fear death even more than pain. It's strange that they fear death. Life hurts a lot more than death. At the point of death, the pain is over. Yeah, I guess it is a friend.

I avoid reading anything related to this Question, maybe I just want it to be unanswered.

Well, lets put my craziness to rest and right now enjoy Life to the fullest, while it lasts !

  2. A question which we all have gone through, or going through..out life.. but as you said, let it come when it comes, we 'll love our life till that :).. and we all are becoming experts in drowning that question back, na?

  3. There really is no good, certain answer for such questions! We can only speculate, or, as you state, live life to the fullest and forget about the rest!

  5. Well this is an interesting view point on the subject of death. I was actually just talking about this with my son tonight. We are talking about going to see the new movie "Heaven is For Real" tomorrow. Personally I have questioned death A LOT over the years. I fear it in a lot of ways and fear that people close to me will die and leave me hear alone. But that fear doesn't come from anywhere positive nor does it do anything positive for me! I'm better about it now, though.

    1. Yes its difficult to deal with the fear of death, even a thought of loosing a near one scares me to death.

  6. There are many thoughts on this, but all are hypothesis. I have one. Like a molecule, the soul consists of several other sub-souls who are controlled by one staying between forehead to head. The body is just the casing. When this casing is not use-able, the sub-souls and the central soul leaves the body and disintegrates. All of them after sometime may refill cosmic energy depending upon the level of up-gradation it deserves. The central soul attracts sub-souls of it's choice and once again occupy a womb. In some case the central soul and sub-souls love each other so much they do not disintegrate and after refilling appropriate level of cosmic energy occupies the womb but this is reincarnation and the entire battery of Soul remembers it's past life. I shall like a good discussion from you and your friends and shall be further educated from the debate.

    1. hmmm... Thanks Pradip for sharing this hypothesis.
But am not sure if I totally agree with it. I think its more like a switch, its just turned off for ever and then there s nothing, just nothing the END.
But I may be wrong, just my thought.

  8. The afterlife has held much fascination over the years and each time had their own predictions of what shall Happen. We just have to wait and watch isn't it? :)

  9. They say the soul and mind remain and if the life U lived is worth it an after life exists. Death will be an old friend if life was treated as a friend too
How ever I never get this philosphical in life- death matters.
Like Prathima's blog post - que sera sera :)

  10. We dealt with this question when my aunt passed away recently, if you recall. To me, personally, living life matters as does the inevitable nature of death. I actually subscribe to the view that Heaven and Hell are of our own making and how we conduct ourselves makes a difference during life itself. As for after-death, I don't worry about it, since I won't be around to worry about it anyway ;)

  11. I only found myself questioning this when I went through what I believe might be considered a mid-life crisis when you're young - you get mega depressed and realise how mortal you are. I however got over this quickly as I realised there really isn't anything to be worried about regarding life after death - because when you die... you won't even know you're dead. A bit morbid I know, but to be honest there's no way of looking at this without generating at least some dis-respectful way of saying death is going to happen and so I let it. I think the closest thing I can refer you to was a video I watched a bit ago about a brain scientist on Ted talk:

  15. my grandpa goes to this brahmakumaris where they teach that souls once they leave this body, they will go to some other body, while they have no memory of the past life! though difficult to digest the concept, some tv shows like journey to the past life where they try n decipher wat one was in their previous birth makes me wonder if its true afterall!! but as u said, there is no use in worrying abt it.. lets jst enjoy the present

  17. I believe in after life and past lives. It is easier to believe that we have many chances yet to live on this earth than to believe we have only one chance.

  18. I believe in karma.Still, some say ,heaven & hell are there here only.Still others say that as per our karma, we will be reborn !So which is true,I have no clue !

  22. I understand why some people believe so devotely in their chosen religions. It's comforting to have a belief system to ease the angst behind this question. The thing that bothers me the most, I think, is knowing I'll miss out on so much, once I'm gone...

  24. Hello Ananya ! :-)

No wonder you are hooked to blogging. You write such interesting posts. Am glad I found your blog.

Even I used to wonder about what exactly happens once life ends. Recently a friend suggested me to read a book titled "Journey of Souls" by Michael Newton which gives a wonderful insight about real life cases where people recalled after-death experiences. You will surely enjoy reading it.

    Keep writing. :-)

  25. I've always had more difficulty with life than death. Death, for me, means being home and safe forever, being with my family again; they died when I was a young child. Life means being happy even without family. Fortunately, a number of Christian brothers and sisters love me as if I am a member of their families and I'm happy again. Still, death doesn't frighten me. That, here on earth, one experience ends and another begins, tells me life is just part of the process, part of the banquet, and I do my best to enjoy and enhance the party.

  26. It's true that death vanishes all our pain but we still fear death ...why ? may be coz we get so accustomed with this painful life , we get scared of the aftermath of it's end ....but still death's a reality and we need to accept it...isn't it :)

  27. I've always known, even as a young child, that this was not all there was, that God existed, that there is a plan, that I was part of that plan...I mean, If we turn to dust after death, what is the point- I asked myself.

I agree, life is MUCH harder than dying.

I LOVE that photo of you. I can tell you have MUCH life inside of you! xx

  28. Death is inevitable and because of it's certainty I've never perhaps delved deeply into this question. I believe in living life to the fullest and enjoying each moment.

  34. I used to have a suffocating fear of death that brought me panic attacks. I remember it starting aged around 9 or 10 when I became aware of my own mortality and used to have nightmares. It persisted until my mid 30s when I became deeply depressed and almost suicidal. At that point my pain was so great that I could understand how people might come to long for death. Now my fear has gone as I have accepted my own inevitable death as just the next stage on my journey. I was somewhere else before I was here and I will be somewhere else when I leave here, that's all. The "I" that I refer to isn't the Ego version of me, it's the real version of me - my soul/spirit/call it whatever you like and that is eternal and one with the Universe. This peace of mind has come to me as a result of the growth and learning I've undertaken on my own journey of personal development - if you want to achieve peace of mind I suggest that rather than trying to ignore the subject you turn and look it squarely in the eye.

  35. I guess I'll have to wait till I die to answer this, because this one Q, everyone has :) I like to believe my loved ones are around even after death, just that death makes them invisible to naked eyes !

  36. Death is always and interesting topic...like you, I don't believe in an after-life or heaven/hell. I see death as nothingness...a black space. Not very uplifting I suppose but that's all it is.

  37. I don't think people fear death. In fact, what they fear is how they would die, if it would be painful. But they misinterpret it as the fear of death.
What I believe is that death comes when we have accomplished what we came here to accomplish. Then we would have no regrets. And it wouldn't really matter what happens to our mind or soul afterwards.

  38. The fear of dying is what remains with us many times. And it is often due to the fact that we start considering things we own more important than life itself... the transient nature of life gets invisible at such times..
