Key to Inheritance

"What is in this locker ?" asked an excited 9 year old Raj.

His Mother replied "A treasure, which will be yours some day".

Years passed by, that excited kid was now a fine gentleman, who was an engineer by profession. He, who was a son once now is a proud father of a beautiful baby girl.

One morning Raj went into his Mother's room to wake her up, he assumed she was still sleeping. But she never woke up, she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Raj was shattered by his loss.

He performed his final duties, came home and sat in her room cherishing all the lovely moments they had spent together. He picked the key from the flower vase, as told by his mother and slowly opened the locker. He saw there were pictures of his childhood, an old diary,a gold chain and lord Ganesh's idol.

The pictures reminded him of his childhood days, whole day his mother worked as a clerk in an office and evenings as a receptionist in a clinic. In spite of being  a single parent with no financial support from any relatives, she still fulfilled all his dreams however small or big, even if that meant selling a piece of her jewelry or not buying a new sari for years. She never frowned or complained instead always smiled. Raj now understood that 'HE' was the only treasure she ever had.
